Mars is in the midst of its Renaissance.

At a monastery-hospital, a sick child suffers. The mother thinks the child has been poisoned, and blames the maid. The maid denies this, and calls on the monk to enforce the truth. The doctor is concerned about the health of the child.

Time is running out, and the illness is still a mystery.
